Just down the road from our summer house in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, lives Mrs Alberta Hewitt, one of the greatest pie bakers around.
Working in her farm kitchen, Alberta produces dozens of pies each day, which she sells to individuals and to local stores.
She and her son pick many of the fruits as they come into season.
One of our favorites is her Bumbleberry Pie, which uses a combination of blueberries, blackberries, huckleberries and raspberries, varying in proportion depending on what is available.
