Apple Pizza Recipe
One year, seeking some variety for the Apple Pie Bake-Off, I made an Apple Pizza, which we all enjoyed.
You won't find apple pizza at your local pizza place.
A word of caution, however: be sure to build up the edge crust, and/or place a cookie sheet underneath. My first one dripped all over my brand new oven and set off the smoke detector!
Dough for
9” pie crust
2-3 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
2 TB butter, melted
2 TB sugar
1 1/2 TB flour
1/4 cup strawberry, raspberry, or apricot
jam
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Peel, core, and slice apples and place in a bowl with melted butter, sugar, and flour.
Place pie crust dough on a sheet of waxed paper or parchment paper. Roll it into a round pizza-size shape. Transfer to a large baking sheet.
Spread the jam evenly over the crust. Fold over the edges of the dough to make a pizza-like rim. Arrange the apples in concentric circles on the jam. Bake about 30-35 minutes. Crust should be golden brown and the apples tender.
Cut into slices like pizza and serve warm.
Tips
from Jane
— You can use any kind of jam or jelly you like. I prefer raspberry, but it’s up to you.
— You could also spice it up by sprinkling chopped walnuts or pecans among the apple slices.
